Who Do I Say You Are?

Several weeks ago, I had the opportunity to hear Gene Wiseman speak. He spoke of many things, however one thing sparked in me and it is growing. He talked of his brother and made this statement: “I am not him and he is not me, but we are a part of one another. Jesus is our brother. Romans 8:29 (TPT) “For He knew all about us before we were born and He destines us from the beginning to share the likeness of His Son. This means that the Son is the oldest among a vast family of brothers and sisters who will become like Him.”

Hebrews 2:11 “Jesus, the Holy One, makes us holy. And as sons and daughters, we now belong to His Father, so He is not ashamed or embarrassed to introduce us as His brothers and sisters!”

We are not Him, and He is not us, but we are a part of Him.

Now, let me share with you some of the thoughts that I had about this.

First, we need to establish who Jesus is:

Genesis 1:3 “Then God said” – God spoke the Word.

John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made.” The Passion Translation reads – “They were together – face -to-face, in the very beginning

God and Jesus were face to face, as if they mirrored each other.

Did we not just establish that Jesus is our big brother? We are not Him, and He is not us, but, yet we are a part of Him. I Corinthians 12:17 tells us that we are the body of Christ. We are a part of Him.

Secondly, He is the Word, that would make us a part of the Word. Not only are we part of the Word, but the Word resides in us. And if the Word is in us, and we are a part of the Word, then why are not doing as the Word?

John 14:12 – “I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in Me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do – even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father.”

My question is this: Why aren’t we doing so?

James 1:22 – tells us to be doers of the Word! What does the Word do? Shouldn’t we be doing that? And, if so, why not?

Mark 16:17 – “And these miracle signs will accompany those who believe: They will drive out demons in the power of My name. They will speak in tongues. They will be supernaturally protected from snakes and from drinking anything poisonous. And they will lay hands on the sick and heal them.”

This is how we should be living. We should be moving mountains and bringing down giants, but, yet we do not. It is time for the Body of Christ to be exactly that, His body, and to act accordingly.

Jesus is asking – “Who do I say you are?
